Top Cop Pleads With Food Vendors: “Be Responsible In Conducting Business”

By Newsroom

Ahead of tomorrow’s reopening of restaurants and street food vending, Police Commissioner Gary Griffith is calling on these business owners to be responsible in carrying out their operations, to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

In a statement on Sunday, the Top Cop said it is the responsibility of the relevant food vendors, be it  in constructed establishments or roadside vending, to ensure that their customers adhere to the mandatory distance from fellow customers of at least six feet. Representatives of these food vendors should also be posted to assist in ensuring that the mandatory social distancing is adhered to.

Failure to do this, he said, would eventually cause mass congestion by those customers waiting to be served, hence breaching the Public Health Ordinance Regulations, and also putting the health of customers at risk.
