Top Cop Reaffirms TTPS Commitment To Ensuring Migrant Safety

Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith today met with representatives of the TTVSOLNET to discuss matters surrounding the safety and security of Venezuelans who are living in Trinidad and Tobago.

The meeting took place at the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Police Administration Building, Port of Spain on Friday.

During the meeting Commissioner Griffith reminded the representatives that the TTPS is committed to ensuring that everyone in the country feels safe and secure.

He applauded the step that they have taken to secure their members and underscored the need to have further communication to the benefit of all involved.

Also present at the meeting was Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police ‘Operations’, Jayson Forde and Manager, Gender-Based Violence Unit, Supt. Claire Guy-Alleyne.

Friday’s meeting came after a young Venezuelan woman was found badly beaten and raped earlier this week.
