Commissioner of Police Erla Christopher has asserted that the TTPS “is making steady progress in its fight against the criminal element”, warning that anti-crime exercises will be ramped up in the coming days and weeks.
In a late-night statement, the Top Cop said exercises across 10 policing divisions this past weekend resulted in the seizure of eight firearms, ammunition and narcotics, as well as 15 arrests.
“We are pleased that we are making some inroads. Every illegal firearm seized is one firearm less in the hands of the criminal element and takes us one step closer to disarming the criminal gangs” the Top Cop said.
She added, “This is a fight we intend to win. In the upcoming days and weeks, we will sustain the intensification of our activities, utilizing all our resources, to constrain and apprehend those bent on committing crime”.
