By Newsroom

School is on for students in Trinidad on Wednesday, after being closed yesterday in anticipation of inclement weather.

Only students sitting CSEC and CAPE exams were required to go to school on Wednesday.

“With the situation of downgrade we are still in alert mode – but with no government, announcements schools are still in gear for tomorrow unless advised otherwise”. Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Faris Al-Rawi said on Tuesday.

No announcement of extended closure was made by the Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, in Tobago, the Education Division says schools will remain shut today and students will return to the classroom on Thursday.

The Tropical Storm Warning was discontinued around 11pm on Tuesday, however showers are expected on Wednesday, as the Met Service has issued a Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert, in effect until 6 this evening.

It says “a moist and unstable atmosphere still exists and convergence behind Potential Tropical Cyclone #2 is still likely to produce persistent periods of rainfall and patches of heavy showers and/or thunderstorms.”
