Tropical Storm Elsa has formed. The Met Office says the Potential Tropical Cyclone #5 upgraded to a Tropical Depression overnight, and eventually developed into Tropical Storm Elsa early this morning. Warnings are in effect for Barbados,  Martinique, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Lucia.

Here at home, despite there being no direct threats to Trinidad and Tobago from Tropical Storm Elsa,  disaster management units across all 14 municipal corporations have been placed on standby in the event there is adverse weather over the coming days.
