Tropical Storm Elsa Moves Rapidly Towards Lesser Antilles

By Newsroom

While Tropical Storm Elsa is not in Trinidad and Tobago’s direct path, the Met office advises that feeder band activities can affect us over the next 30 hours.

A Yellow Level Adverse Weather alert goes into effect at 8 o clock tonight and will last until midday on Saturday.

Despite there being no direct threats to Trinidad and Tobago from Tropical Storm Elsa, heavy showers are expected in a few areas.

Disaster management units across all 14 municipal corporations have mobilized to ensure safety.

Meanwhile, Barbados began to feel the effects of Tropical Storm Elsa early Friday morning, as the storm is now located 110km East-South-East of the island, with winds at 95km per hour.

Elsa is projected to move quickly across the Windward Islands and southern Leeward Islands, north of Trinidad and Tobago, today.
