US President Donald Trump has announced that his plan to ban immigration into the US will last for 60 days and will apply only to those seeking permanent residence. Trump said the measure would protect Americans who had lost jobs because of the coronavirus. However, the decision will not apply to workers entering the country on a temporary basis.

He added that his executive order was being written and is expected to be completed by White House lawyers tomorrow, Wednesday 22^nd April, for him to sign. The ban could be extended much longer depending on how the economy is doing, he said.
