Until the government gets the extraction kits to complement the 4000 test kits that were donated by China, mobile testing, as promised, will not begin. In the meantime, however, the number of persons tested positive for the COVID-19 virus increased by one overnight, as the statistics show.

There are 60 persons hospitalised, with 12 at Caura and 48 at Couva. None of the patients at Couva are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)  and there are just two persons in the High Dependency Unit (HDU). Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram said that 46 of the patients at Couva are ambulatory and in a fairly stable condition.  There are 26 at the step-down facility in Sangre Grande while  there are two at the suspect ward at Caura.

Addressing the number of re-tests the CMO said  that- based in the statistics at hand- of  1191 samples sent for testing at least 84 were re-tests.
