Another death , as a result of the Coronavirus, has been reported. The Ministry of Health says it is an elderly person with a pre-existing medical condition, like the other seven deaths that have been reported so far.
There are 105 positive cases, eight deaths and one person discharged. Sunday night marked 14 days since the borders were closed. Now we don’t see cases that are linked to travel and we have moved into local transmission with one case of local transmission reported in Tobago and another in Trinidad
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Roshan Parasram said one new case was added last night and there are 96 persons hospitalized. He broke down the statistics:
26 at Caura are doing very well.
17 from the Couva Hospital were transferred to Caura
70 patients at Couva, of which 66 are very mild.
One Patient in Couva in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Three patients at Couva are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) two days ago there were 12 patients in the HDU
There are 22 patients at Balandra who will be tested at the end of the week and most likely be allowed to return home.
A few healthcare workers in the system have tested positive
Of the total number of positive cases, 49 of these positive cases came from the group of nationals who recently returned from a cruise:
46 positive cases from the group of 68 nationals who returned from the cruise together
3 positive cases from the group of nationals who returned from the same cruise separately from the other 68 nationals.
