T&T Government In Talks With Canada For Repatriation Of Nationals On Agriculture Farms

National Security Minister Stuart Young and Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Amery Browne have met with Canada’s High Commissioner to T&T, to discuss measures for the repatriation of Trinidad and Tobago farmers who are employed on agricultural farms in Canada.

Minister Young recommitted to working with the Canadian Government to expedite the safe return of this country’s nationals, including the facilitation of special flights and quarantine arrangements.

High Commissioner Kumar Gupta also gave the assurance that the Government of Canada will work with Canadian farm owners to ensure the well-being of Trinidad and Tobago nationals while they are in Canada.

The Ministers and the High Commissioner also discussed opportunities to collaborate on prison reform and other areas of mutual interest.

All parties reiterated their commitment to the furtherance of the long standing bilateral relationship between both countries and pledged to continue to work together for the safety and security of all.

 The meeting took place on Tuesday at the Ministry of National Security’s Head Office at Abercromby Street, Port of Spain.
