An additional TT$157 million will be allocated to the Ministry of Health to build further capacity. The money will be used for human resources (consultants etc.)Government will purchase an additional 15,000 test kits from China, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh noted. The money will be allocated as follows:

• The Eastern Regional Health Authority (ERHA): TT$6.2 million
• The North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) TT$16.6 million.
• The North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) which includes Caura and the Couva Hospital TT$129.9 million.

  The upgrade will be done over a 3-6 month period. In addition the Minister noted that the  Point Fortin Hospital which is near completion will be reprogramed as a primary care facility to deal with the COVID-19 Pandemic.
