T&T Schools Closed Until April 20, Banks will be asked to adjust to the changing economy.

All schools and learning institutions will remain closed until April 20th.  An Education Committee will meet and give a decision on the future of the SEA on April 2nd as well as other exams that are pending.

While he explained that bars will be closed for a fourteen-day period, the Prime Minister also revealed that restaurants will only do curbside service.

And there should be no gatherings of more than 25 people, according to Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley who spoke in a post-cabinet news briefing on Monday morning.  Persons are being asked NOT to congregate in churches, as well.

With respect to the economy, the PM  said the government will be asking the bank to make deferrals on payments because of the circumstances of the emergency.

Banks will also be asked about deferring credit card payments in a situation which the prime minister said could extend to June.

Dr Rowley will chair a subcommittee of Cabinet on Finance, Banking and Insurance will be created. The Committee will include Finance Minister Colm Imbert. Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Alison West, Public Utilities Minister Robert Le Hunte, Christian Mouttet,  The Managing Director of the First Citizen’s Bank (FCB) Karen Darbasie as well as The Chairman of Caribbean Airlines, Ronnie Mohammed.

This committee will report to the Prime Minister at 10 o’clock on Wednesday morning.
