TTCF’s head coach may quit

By Newsroom

Technical Director/Coach of the T&T Cycling Federation Mr. Erin Hartwell has gone on leave to pursue other opportunities. The TTCF said the move was a very unfortunate development.

In a statement they said:

“Erin has been at the center of our high performance cycling development programme, and has had tremendous impact on Trinidad and Tobago cycling – his record speaks for itself. During the past few weeks, cycling has been the subject of negative news coverage, mudslinging and speculation both within and outside the fraternity, culminating Erin’s decision. These are the regrettable facts.”

The federation added that they will not dwell on the past or point fingers.

“Our goals and objectives remain unchanged – the development of cycling – and our immediate challenge is to provide our national cycling team with the best possible support we can in the quest for Olympic qualification.” Elisha Greene has been appointed coach for World Cup VI, now taking place in Milton, Canada. She has been working with team as its mechanic for more than two years.

The team departed on Wednesday and arrived in Ontario in good spirit for the competition, which starts Saturday with the Keirin and the Sprint events on Sunday. It comprises cyclists Nicholas Paul, Kwesi Browne and Quincy.
