TTPS Bust Major Drug Ring

By Newsroom

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) dealt a major blow to a prominent drug trafficking network, seizing more than TT$314 million worth of narcotics in two successful intelligence-led operations conducted on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, and Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

Yesterday, an ongoing operation spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Suzette Martin and executed by TTPS specialized units resulted in the discovery of a significant narcotics stash area along Quarry Road, Palo Seco. Acting on evolving intelligence and following heightened enforcement pressure from the previous day, specialized teams maintained covert surveillance overnight in a zone characterized by dense forest and remote access points.

With additional support from police resources in the South Western Division, officers executed a coordinated lockdown and search of the target area. This led to the seizure of a substantial cache comprising:
1,177.4 kg of high-grade Colombian “Creepy” marijuana, contained in 41 crocus bags with an estimated street value of TT$129,216,117.80
117.14 kg of cocaine, contained in five crocus bags with an estimated street value of TT$163,283,788.80

The combined estimated street value for the October 1st seizure is TT$292,499,906.60. The narcotics were transported to the Siparia Police Station pending further investigations. This seizure follows an intelligence-led operation on Tuesday, 30th September 2025, which resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of high-grade Colombian “Creepy” marijuana.

The operation stemmed from credible intelligence received in August 2025, indicating that a drug trafficking organisation based in the South Western Division had recently imported a significant narcotics shipment and concealed it at an undisclosed location. Over several weeks, specialized teams conducted extensive surveillance and executed targeted actions against known associates of the criminal network.

Fresh intelligence indicated another large shipment was moved into the Palo Seco area on the night of September 29. Early on September 30, specialized teams initiated major surveillance and identified several vehicles believed to be conducting countersurveillance and route-clearing.
The team tracked a white Nissan wagon operated by a close associate of the network and suspected to be transporting narcotics into the Fyzabad area. With additional operational support from police resources in the South Western Division, the team intercepted the vehicle along Fyzabad

Main Road near a gas station. When officers searched the vehicle, they found a significant quantity of high-grade cannabis concealed in the trunk. 201.98 kg of high-grade Colombian “Creepy” marijuana, with an estimated street value of TT$22,166,699.06. The officers arrested the suspect and conveyed the seized narcotics to the Siparia Police Station. Charges are expected to be laid; investigations remain ongoing.

Seizure Totals:

October 1, 2025 (Palo Seco):TT$292,499,906.60
September 30, 2025 (Fyzabad):TT$22,166,699.06
Two-day combined total: TT$314,666,605.66

Commenting on the operations, Commissioner Allister Guevarro stated: “I commend all the officers for the focus, resolve and meticulous work over the past weeks which led to the two successful operations. I also thank our law enforcement and intelligence partners from the United States who assisted in this operation. These coordinated actions demonstrate the
TTPS’s relentless pressure on organized criminal networks.

By coupling sustained surveillance with swift operational responses, we are disrupting supply chains, taking the fight right to the criminals and most importantly hurting them where it hurts: in their pockets. There have been major drug seizures in 2025, but the TTPS is by no means satisfied, we are intent on removing dangerous drugs from communities and making Trinidad and Tobago safer.”

DCP Operations, Suzette Martin led the operations, with the assistance of Snr Supt. Thompson, Supt. Ganesh, ASP Forbes and ASP Corrie of the South Western Division
