TTPS Social & Welfare Asks: “Why The Delay In Announcement Of PSC’s Pick For Top Cop?”

By Newsroom

Acting Police Commissioner, Gary Griffith

It’s now been one week since Gary Griffith’s appointment as Police Commissioner came to an end, and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association is questioning why a new appointment has not yet been made.

The Association said the Police Service Commission’s selection process has seen the Commissioner’s office being used to slander candidates for the post.

“This occurrence does not translate into anything positive for the image of the TTPS and the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago,” the Association said in a statement.

Griffith has been acting in the post since his contract ended on August 17th.

The TTPSSWA  implored anyone with pertinent information regarding the unsuitability of any candidate to formally submit a complaint to the PSC.

The Association said though not mandated by law, it requests that in good faith and transparency, the PSC should publish the Order of Merit list of all candidates who participated in the selection process.
