TTPS upgrades T&T’s Alert Status from yellow to orange

By Newsroom

The TTPS has moved the country’s Alert State from Yellow to Orange with immediate effect In response to the directives of the Chairman of the National Security Council (NSC), Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.

The move has been deemed necessary to ensure citizens adhere to their responsibilities. The following is the statement from the TTPS:

“Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, has announced that the Alert State of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) will be lifted to deal with the COVID-19 virus. The CoP says that the TTPS’ Alert Level moves from Yellow to Orange with immediate effect, as a result of the directives announced today by the Prime Minister at the weekly Cabinet Media Conference.

Commissioner Griffith says if it becomes necessary, the TTPS will move its Alert to the highest level, being Red. The lowest level is Green. The CoP says that despite attempts to have citizens adhere to the protocols implemented by Government, there were still some persons who continue to break the law and not adhere to the Regulations enforced.

As a result, he says the TTPS will increase its patrols throughout the country, with all 85 ERP vehicles being operational at all times throughout the country on a 24/07 basis until further notice, with support from the Highway Patrol, inclusive of the newly established TTPS Motor cyclist patrol, comprising over 100 motorbikes.

Members of the public are asked to like and follow the TTPS via our Facebook and Twitter pages for the latest news and information on matters of interest to the general public.”
