Twenty-Three Officers Rewarded By Top Cop For Role In Solving Homicides

Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, today rewarded 23 police officers attached to several units for their outstanding performances in solving seven homicides within a short time frame.

The homicides were as follows:

– “Double Murder” in Central which occurred on Monday 18th May, 2020. Kenneth Mackhan and Lilawatie Machan were killed in their home.

– “Murder” in Port of Spain which occurred on 19th May, 2020. Lawerence Charles was killed on the roadway near his home in Belmont.

– “Quadruple Murder” in Southern Division which occurred on Monday 25th May, 2020. Guimar Jose, Rausseo Marcano, Darnel Mitchell, Jose Serrano and Aaron George were found dead in an agricultural field in New Grant.

– The Kidnapping for Ransom resulting in “Murder” in Tobago in which Koongebeharry Jaisarie, was reported missing on 8th June, 2020 and was last seen on the 4th June, 2020

– A “murder” in Port of Spain which occurred on Saturday 13th June, 2020, in which Shem Thomas was found at Joseph Lane, Pashley Street, Laventille bleeding from a wound to his neck.

– A “murder” in Northern Division which occurred on Thursday, 4th June, 2020. Randell Bramble was shot and his body found on Saturday 6th June 2020 by a party of police officers from the Arima Police Station at Old Brazil Road, Wallerfield.

– The “Double Murder” in Tobago Division which occurred on Friday 5th June, 2020. Brothers Kelton James and Kenwin James were killed whilst proceeding south along Franklyn Road, Les Coteaux.

Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, said as the TTPS solves crimes, it can act as a deterrent to individuals. He advised the officers to be the best that they can be, as he will continue to support them, enhancing capacity and closing any gaps. He said by solving crimes, TTPS has given relatives of the deceased persons the hope that justice will take place. Special thanks were given to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mc Donald Jacob, and all officers of TTPS.
