Twitter Permanently Suspends Donald Trump’s Account

By Newsroom

US President Donald Trump will have to find another medium to communicate with his fan base, after Twitter took a bold decision on Friday night to permanently suspend his account.

It is yet another badge of dishonor as the President’s final days in office quickly comes to an end.

Twitter said it had taken the decision over fears the President could incite further violence following Wednesday’s insurrection at the Capitol.

“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” Twitter said

The President’s last tweets to his then 88 million followers included a tweet that read: “The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!”

A subsequent tweet simply stated that he would not be in attendance at the inauguration ceremony for President-elect Joe Biden on January 20th.

Twitter said,  “these two Tweets must be read in the context of broader events in the country and the ways in which the President’s statements can be mobilized by different audiences, including to incite violence, as well as in the context of the pattern of behavior from this account in recent weeks.
