Police have arrested two men, seized several stashes of marijuana, and recovered two stolen vehicles during exercises conducted across various divisions over the past 24 hours.

According to a statement from the TTPS, between noon and 6 pm on 11th August 2024, officers from the North Eastern Division carried out an exercise in the San Juan district. During this operation, a search warrant was executed for firearms and ammunition at the residence of a Bushe Street, San Juan, resident. The officers arrested a 24-year-old man for possession of marijuana after they seized 498 grammes of marijuana at the residence.

The officers then proceeded to Second Street, San Juan, where they searched an empty lot and discovered 500 grams of marijuana. Additionally, the team visited an address on Saddle Road, San Juan, within the compound of a supermarket, where they found a silver Toyota Fielder Wagon. This vehicle had been taken at gunpoint from its owner the previous day.

On the same day, in the Tobago Division, an exercise was conducted between 2:05 pm and 8:45 pm in the Mt. St George and Good Wood areas. While searching a forested area, officers discovered a silver Nissan Tiida, reported stolen in Roxborough and believed to be linked to a recent homicide. The vehicle was seized and taken to the Scarborough Police Station.

In the Northern Division, officers conducted a Zero Tolerance Exercise between 10:30 am and 2:50 pm in the Arima and Pinto districts. Acting on credible information, officers proceeded to an area known as “Draggs” on Queen Street, Arima, where they searched a booth. There, they found a black bag containing 413 grammes of marijuana, hidden in the booth’s ceiling. The item was seized, and the 42-year-old proprietor of the booth was arrested.

Later, in the Eastern Division, officers on a Drug Block Exercise went to Oliver Trace, Cushe Village, Biche, where they discovered 81 packets of marijuana, totalling 162 grammes. The marijuana was seized.
