Two people have been fined for consuming alcohol in public, in breach of the rules under the current State of Emergency.
Forty-four year old Ryan Omalo was fined $10,000 while 22 year old Ronaldo Merrick was fined $5,500.
Both men face six months’ hard labour if the fines cannot be paid.
The two men, both of Bergorat Trace, Mayaro, were arrested during a roving road check exercise conducted in Mayaro on Tuesday.
Around 2.30pm, two men were seen drinking on the roadway from a glass bottle marked ‘Forres Park Puncheon Rum’ at Begorat Trace, Mayaro.
The men were informed of the offence and arrested and charged with consuming alcohol in public during a State of Emergency.
