Two Men Surrender To Police Following Tunapuna Shooting

As a result of information received in relation to the shooting incident involving a police officer and a pedestrian in Tunapuna yesterday, officers of the North Central Division (NCD) Task Force East and West, along with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), embarked on a targeted exercise in search of the suspects involved.

During the exercise, officers proceeded to Fairley Street, Tunapuna Road, and the surrounding areas. While investigations were ongoing, at approximately 10:30 a.m. today, two men, aged 22 and 20, both of Upper Fairley Street, Tunapuna, presented themselves at the Tunapuna Police Station and surrendered to the police.

Both individuals were cautioned and are currently assisting police with their investigations. Around 3:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, 10th February, 2026, officers acting on information received, proceeded to Eastman Street, Tunapuna, where an AR- 15 rifle with one magazine was discovered along a drain surrounded by bushes and subsequently seized.

The exercise was led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Rishi Singh and coordinated by Senior Superintendent Gift. Investigations are continuing.
