Two men have been charged, in separate instances,with sexual touching of a child and sexual penetration of a child.
They were both arrested at Nelson Street and another at La Puerta Diego Martin after an “intelligence-led” exercise by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).
In the first incident, officers of the Port-of-Spain Child Protection Unit, in collaboration with officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) proceeded to Nelson Street, Port-of-Spain, on Thursday where they arrested a male suspect and charged him with two counts of sexual penetration and three counts of sexual touching of a child during the period 2016 to 2020.
The 49-year-old male relative of the victim was taken into custody and is expected to face a Port-of-Spain Magistrate today.
In the second incident, officers of the Western CPU responded to a report of sexual assault against a child on Monday at La Puerta Avenue, Diego Martin. A 58-year-old male suspect was charged with one count of sexual penetration of a child and one count of sexual touching of a child.
He was granted $100,000 bail when he appeared in court on Thursday and the matter was adjourned to March 5th.
