Two more firearms taken off the streets during ongoing anti-crime exercises

Three people were arrested after the TTPS seized two firearms and quantities of ammunition seized by officers during ongoing anti-crime exercises across the country yesterday, December 13.

According to a statement from the TTPS:

“In the first incident, officers of the Arima Police Station, Arima Municipal Task Force and Arima Municipal Street Patrol conducted an exercise between 1 pm and 2:15 pm, on Tuesday 13th December 2022, during which they executed search warrants for firearms and ammunition at Sherwood Park, Arima.

During the searches, officers arrested a 34-year-old male suspect for possession of a firearm and seven rounds of ammunition. Another suspect, a 26-year-old man also from the area, was arrested for possession of a quantity of marijuana.”

In the Eastern Division, officers of the Toco Police Station conducted an exercise between 5 pm and 7 pm, yesterday, during which they executed a search warrant at the home of a 36- year-old suspect.

The search resulted in officers finding one homemade shotgun along with a quantity of marijuana.

Investigations are ongoing into all these matters.
