Two Venezuelan Nationals Charged with Operating an Illegal Gaming House

The TTPS yesterday, February 28 arrested five persons for various offences during anti-crime exercises in the Eastern Division.

According to the TTPS statement, officers of the Eastern Division Task Force arrested a 32-year-old Venezuelan for Operating an Illegal Gaming House in Sangre Grande yesterday. The officers also seized the sum of $8,063, during the exercise.

The officers then proceeded to Pierreville, Mayaro, where they observed illegal Play Whe gambling. A 23-year-old Venezuelan, bar operator was also arrested for Operating an Illegal Gaming House. Police officers seized $7893, during this exercise.

PC Ragbir is continuing investigations.

Meanwhile, two persons in the Mayaro district were jointly charged with Possession of six rounds of ammunition, Possession of a Carcass of Protected Wildlife, namely a porcupine. Also in Mayaro a 33-year-old man was charged for cultivating marijuana plants in excess of the legal amount.

The exercise was conducted by officers of the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and supervised by Sergeant Mohammed, Corporals Dowarka and Flores.

The crackdown on illegal gambling operations in the area is part of the TTPS ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and uphold the law.
