Two Young Men Drown Over Labour Day Holiday

Two young men are suspected to have drowned during two separate incidents which took place on Friday.

In the first case, 27 year old Lyndon Clement, of Arima, is suspected to have drowned at Surf’s Beach, Private Facility, Damian Bay #2 Blanchisseuse.

Officers responded to a report of a drowning at around 2:20pm; witnesses say Clement had gone into the water just about 10 minutes earlier.

His body was retrieved from the water, however he was unable to be resuscitated.

Meanwhile,  19 year old Triston Matthison, of Sangre Grande is suspected to have drowned during a hiking trip to Rio Seco.

According to reports, around 3.20 pm the victim was at the waterfall with his girlfriend and other friends when he disappeared underwater.

Other hikers at the site were able to retrieve his body, however attempts to resuscitate him were futile. 

Autopsies have been ordered for both cases.
