The United National Congress has shot down rumors that Political Leader of the United National Congress has tested COVID-19 positive, maintaining that she is  “in good health”

The party issued a release on the matter on Friday evening, saying “these rumors are dangerous, they encourage panic and chaos and we hope that good sense will prevail on social media.”

The rumors arose after former UNC Minister, Dr. Tim Gopeesingh, revealed on Thursday that he tested positive for the virus.

Dr. Gopeesingh was notably on the campaign trail ahead of the August 10th general election. 

“We wish those who have tested positive a speedy recovery and we continue to pray for our nation,” the UNC said.
