The United National Congress managed to retain its seat in the Debe South electoral district, with Khemraj Seecheran amassing 1,625 votes in Monday’s bye-election.

Lorenzo Rodney Sammy, of the PEP followed with 175 votes, while the PNM’s candidate, Judy Sookdeo, secured a mere 25 votes.

The seat became vacant last February, following the passing of UNC Councillor Purushottam Singh.
