UPDATE : Majority of TT COVID-19 Patients Doing Well

The Trinidad and Tobago national who was quarantined in Tobago upon arrival on a British Airways Flight and who was tested positive for the Coronavirus yesterday, will be brought to Trinidad this afternoon. The TT Coast Guard will bring the patient in isolation, who will be sent to either Caura or the Couva Hospital, depending on his condition. “Currently, there are 52 COVID-19 patients at hospital, four of whom are at the Caura Hospital in a stable condition. “There are 48 patients at the Couva Hospital one of whom is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and seven in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) while 40 are doing very well. “The first  patient is  doing well and  he has been  tested to determine if he has the first negative test and if that is  so, then after 24 hours he will be tested again for a second negative,” Chief Medical Officer, Dr Roshan Parasram said at a  news conference. In addition Health Minister, Terrence Deyalsingh, said that among other things, the COVID-19 Hotline will be expanded from ten to 18 doctors to accommodate more calls. In addition 4,000 test kits that were promised by the Republic of China arrived in the country on Tuesday morning. Fifteen thermal scanners that were part of the package will be placed in strategic places- where we receive cargo via air and sea.
