US To Share 60 Million Doses Of AstraZeneca Vaccines

By Newsroom

The United States will begin sharing AstraZeneca vaccines once it clears federal safety reviews, with the White House saying as many as 60 million doses are likely to be available for export to other countries in the coming months.

Public health officials, lawmakers and world leaders have been urging the US to release some of its stockpile of the AstraZeneca vaccine to other countries that have cleared it for use while American reviews of safety and efficacy data continue.

There has been no revelation as yet, on which countries the vaccine doses would be going to.

The news came on the same day that the European Union launched legal action against AstraZeneca, saying the vaccine manufacturer has failed to uphold its supply contract. In response, AstraZeneca said the move was “without merit” and vowed to strongly defend itself in court.
