WASA Responds To Beetham Protest: Sewage Issue To Be Resolved By Month End

By Newsroom

After Beetham Residents resorted to burning debris along the highway on Monday morning in protest of a sewage problem affecting their community, the authorities have heard and responded.

Frustrated with a sewage problem which has been plaguing the community over the past six months, fed up residents blocked the east and west bound lanes of the highway as well as the PBR.

They say the stench has not only been unpleasant, but poses a health hazard.

In a statement on Monday afternoon, the Water and Sewerage Authority said the repairs will be completed by month-end.

WASA denied claims the matter was not being addressed, noting that work started back in October 2021.

The Authority said however, progress was hiccuped by a delay in delivery of concrete cylinders needed to complete the repairs.
