WASA’s Post Analysis: 200,000 Residents Were Without Water As A Result Of Heavy Rains

As many of 200,000 people across 26 communities were left without a pipe-borne water supply, as several of WASA’s Water Treatment Plants were impacted by heavy rainfall over the last two days.

The Authority’s Director of Operations,  Shaira Ali, says as many as 16 water treatment facilities and 10 surface source intakes were compromised.

The areas most affected were North East and South Trinidad, those living along the North Coast and Tobago.

Meanwhile, According to the latest update from WASA, issued at 9pm on Wednesday, a few of the facilities have restarted operations, including Caura, Tyrico, Parts of Santa Cruz and St. Ann’s, parts of Moruga, Biche and Richmond in Tobago.

Another update is expected on Thursday morning.
