WASA’s Transformation

By Newsroom

A transformation of the Water and Sewerage Authority will go ahead after the Industrial Court dismissed the Public Services Association’s application for an injunction to stop any restructuring at the State entity.

The PSA, which argued there should have been full consultations before any restructuring plan, has said it intends to go to the Privy Council to appeal the court’s ruling.

The Industrial Court recognised it was “the sole province of the Government to formulate policy, in this instance, on the structure and operations of the authority and it is the responsibility of the authority to operationalising that policy, that is, to inter alia implement it.”

“To effect and operationalise that policy, the authority will have to prepare and formulate its position consistent with and in keeping with that policy,” the court noted.

The Authority’s legal team was led by Reginald Armour, SC, prior to his installation as the Attorney General.
