WATCH: Kamla Takes Shot At Media For Being “Mute” On Issues Of National Importance

By Newsroom

Opposition Leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, has taken the media fraternity to task over its decision to report on the Prime Minister’s missing peacock.

Speaking at the United National Congress’ virtual party meeting on Monday night, Persad-Bissessar addressed an incident reported over the weekend regarding a peacock being stolen from Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley’s farm in Mason Hall, Tobago.

The matter is currently being investigated by Tobago Police and is said to be a high priority.

Speaking at the United National Congress’ virtual party meeting on Monday night, an incensed Persad-Bissessar called the situation outrageous.

She accused the Prime Minister of being more concerned about the missing animal, when citizens were suffering from the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, she lamented that thousands of students remain without laptops- a matter which she argued deserves greater urgency.

The Opposition Leader is hoping when the Finance Minister presents the October 5th Budget Day, government will accept her advice and reinstate the laptop program started by her administration between 2010-2015.
