WATCH: National Security Minister Reiterates Government’s Stance On Quarantine “Fee” Claim

National Security Minister Stuart Young has once more affirmed the government’s policy that all returning nationals will receive free quarantine accommodation for 14 days upon their return on home soil.

The clarification comes after Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh on Wednesday lamented the extreme expense to taxpayers for the State to outfit quarantine facilities.  At the time, he referenced Jamaica’s system which requires some returnees to pay US$20 per day, prompting some to believe this hinted of plans to implement same.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Health clarified that nationals will not be charged for the mandatory quarantine. (Click here to read the Ministry’s statement)
