West Indies Name Team For T20 World Cup

By Newsroom

The West Indies have named their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, with the two-time champions set to be led by Shai Hope at the ICC tournament.

Veteran all-rounder Jason Holder and former captain Rovman Powell have returned as the West Indies announced a 15-man squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with Shai Hope set to lead the two-time champions. Holder, Powell and Romario Shepherd have all been recalled after being rested for the recent assignment, as the selectors lean on experience ahead of the global tournament.

West Indies have also included hard-hitting batter Quentin Sampson in the squad. The 25-year-old Guyanese made his T20I debut in the recent series against Afghanistan in Dubai and managed 35 runs across three innings. Despite the modest returns, Sampson has been backed on the strength of his performances in the Caribbean Premier League, where he has shown his ability to score quickly and handle pressure.

Another notable inclusion is fast bowler Shamar Joseph, who has endured a stop-start period in the latter half of 2025. The 26-year-old featured in two matches against Afghanistan but missed the tour of India through injury before sitting out the ODI series against Bangladesh after experiencing shoulder discomfort during training.

The pace attack will feature Holder, Joseph, Matthew Forde and Jayden Seales, while the spin department will be led by Akeal Hosein, with Chase and Gudakesh Motie providing support.
