When Filing TT Tax Returns Online…

By Newsroom

The  Inland Revenue Division (IRD)  will be introducing a new service that allows VAT and PAYE taxpayers to file their tax returns, on its e-Tax platform, without having to register with ttconnect.

This new feature termed the ‘Non-logged in service’ targets taxpayers who have not yet registered with ttconnect for e-Tax and offers them a second option to meet the requirement of filing their returns online.

From February 1st 2020, VAT and PAYE taxpayers, the first group to be allowed access to the ‘Non-logged in service’, would be able to file their returns for the years 2019 and onwards.

However, where there is a need to file returns for the years 2018 and prior, these taxpayers may visit any of the IRD’s regional offices to obtain printed copies of those returns.

To access the ‘Non-logged in service’, VAT and PAYE taxpayers would be required to have on hand, their BIR file Number, PAYE/VAT Account Number and BIR Letter ID Number. (This number can be found on any ‘Official Receipt’ or ‘Advice of Assignment of BIR Number’)

Taxpayers can then log in to http://etax.ird.gov.tt , prepare their returns online and print the ‘Declaration Form’ and Summary.

Taxpayers should then review and verify the data entered on the Summary, which is to be retained for their personal records. The final step in the process requires taxpayers to sign the printed ‘Declaration Form’ and submit same to any of the Division’s Regional or District Revenue Offices. (A full list of office locations can be found at http://www.ird.gov.tt/locations).

It must be noted that these returns cannot be processed without the submission of the signed ‘Declaration Form’.
