The High Court today ruled that government’s decision to close the borders in March of last year was not unconstitutional.
The ruling, handed down by Justice Elanore Donaldson-Honeywell, stated that government executed a proportionate response in managing the re-entry of nationals.
The case was brought by Takeisha Clairmont, a T&T national who set out to sue the State after being trapped in the British Virgin Islands for months as a result of the border closure.
The ruling was welcomed by Attorney General Faris Al Rawi.
