A relative of 28-year-old police constable Nicolette Persad, has confirmed that she is on the mend. Persad was wounded, after her common law husband allegedly shot her following an argument over an alleged text message. 

The relative said that she is still warded at the San Fernando General Hospital but in a stable condition. He said she was talking as well as responding to her loved ones.

The suspect, Sgt Dale Ramroop was taken into custody and is expected to be charged with attempted murder.
