A 45-year-old man of Vistabella was granted $100,000 bail when he appeared before the Siparia Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with arson.

Kyle Richards, unemployed, of Hubert Ranch Street, Vistabella, San Fernando, was arrested and charged by PC Kunjal of the Oropouche Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Monday.

The arrest came in connection with a report of arson in the district on Saturday 1st August, 2020, in which the victim reported to police that a man who has relations with his daughter was allegedly seen leaving her room after it was set ablaze.

The victim, with assistance of his neighbours, managed to extinguish the fire.

The suspect surrendered to police at the Oropouche Police Station later that day and  was immediately arrested and charged for arson.

He will reappear in court on September 1st, 2020.
