$1M BAIL: Ex-Officers In George Floyd Case Make First Court Appearance

Three of the four former Minnesota police officers who were charged in the killing of George Floyd have each been granted bail in the sum of one million dollars.

J Alexander Kueng, Thomas K. Lane and Tou Thao made their first appearances before the same judge in Hennepin County District Court on Thursday.

The men are charged with aiding and abetting murder.

Meanwhile Derek Chauvin, the officer who was captured on video pressing his knee into Floyd’s neck was charged last week by the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

Chauvin will make his first court appearance on Monday.

 

Lane’s attorney, Earl Gray, argued that the cases against the officers are weak and that they did nothing wrong. .

Hennepin County District Court Judge Paul Scoggin set each of their bails at $1 million without conditions or $750,000 with conditions, which include surrendering any guns they have.
