2021 Soca Monarch Is On

By Lillian Searles

The 2021 Soca Monarch will be held online, and it will take place on Fantastic Friday, February 12th.

However, Creative Director of the competition, Simon Baptiste, says only artistes who are in Trinidad and Tobago are eligible to participate.

The competition, which will be rebranded “The Monarch”, will be broadcast live to the national audience on TV and streamed on social media to a local and international audience.

Baptiste revealed that due to the nature of the show, the format will be different and there will be no semi-finals.

Artistes will be required to submit their songs via the ISM website from Friday, January 22 and the top ten selected will proceed to the final where only one Monarch will be crowned.

The Monarch will not be the only music competition held virtually as the Chutney Soca Monarch (CSM) is also carded to take place. The semi-final round will be pre-recorded into two segments and will be aired on January 30 and 31. The final round of the CSM will also be aired on Carnival Saturday, February 13.
