$21 Million Worth of Cocaine Found in Mayaro

The TTPS has disclosed that cocaine valued at over TT$21 million was found by officers of the Eastern Division. The drugs washed ashore in the Mayaro district yesterday, August 23.

According to the TTPS, reports indicate that officers of the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department (CID), acting on information received, proceeded to a location at Guayaguayare, Mayaro, on Wednesday 23rd August, 2023.

There, the officers observed 36 packets of a white substance resembling that of cocaine. The drug has a total weight of 46 kilogrammes and an estimated street value of TT$21,373,440.

Also in the Eastern Division, officers responding to a report of a loud explosion around 10 pm, on Tuesday 22nd August, 2023, proceeded to Newlands Village, Mayaro, where they recovered an abandoned vehicle bearing false registration plates.

The officers also seized an extended magazine and eleven rounds of ammunition which were found hidden in the vehicle.

Investigations are ongoing into the above finds.
