21 Murders In One Week As Two More Killed Overnight

By Newsroom

T&T’s homicide toll has now climbed to 162, as another two people were killed in separate incidents overnight.

In the first case, Joshua Mahabir was ambushed at Gowers Well Road in Fyzabad. And in Cocorite, a man identified as Meshach Farrell was shot multiple times shortly after midnight.

He died at the St. James Medical Complex. There have now been 21 murders recorded over the last seven days.

Also, in a third incident last night, a man was shot at Lawrence Street in San Fernando. He was taken to hospital, where he’s still being treated.

Meanwhile, Acting Top Cop Mc Donald Jacob says gang related killings appear to be on the low, with majority of the 21 murders recorded over the past week being dispute related.

In a television interview on Wednesday night, Jacob said four of the killings over the Easter weekend appeared to be linked to gang activity.

“All these murders were in different circumstances but what we have identified though, is that some of these murders were domestic and altercation-related matters between close friends, relatives and that is one of our major concerns,” Jacob said in an interview with Guardian Media Limited.
