By Newsroom

Two-time Olympian cyclist Njisane Phillip has been granted $300,000 bail and a cash alternative of $30,000 after appearing in court on firearm and marijuana charges.

Phillip appeared virtually before Senior Magistrate Armina Deonarinesingh in the San Fernando Charge Court on Monday, charged with gun and ammunition possession and possession of marijuana.

He was arrested during a traffic stop on Saturday, when patrol officers allegedly found him in possession of 62 grammes of marijuana and a firearm with an extended magazine, containing four rounds of 9 mm ammunition.

As part of his bail conditions, Phillip was ordered to surrender his Trinidad and Tobago and United States passports and report to the Siparia Police Station every Wednesday.

The matter was adjourned to April 24th.
