$350K Bail For SRP Charged With Misbehavior in Public Office

Special Reserve Police Officer John Blackman was granted $350,000 bail when he appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate charged with four offences including misbehaviour in public office and marijuana trafficking.

On Sunday, the accused was charged with one count of misbehaviour in public office to wit doing an act tending to pervert the course of public justice to wit making a false entry in the Northern Division Task Force, South diary
and one count of misbehaviour in public office to wit trafficking of cannabis commonly called marijuana.

The officers of the Professional Standards Bureau continued investigations and sought advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard SC who advised that Blackmann be further charged. He was additionally charged on Tuesday with two further charges; one count of doing an act tending to pervert the course of public justice to wit- making a false entry in the Guard Unit, Police Administration Building diary and one count of misbehaviour in public office to wit burglary.

The accused was charged with the four offences when he appeared before the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday.

He will reappear on May 27th.
