91 Police Officers Promoted To Inspector Rank

By Newsroom

Ninety-one newly promoted Inspectors of Police will now take up the mantle of ensuring the proper implementation and operationalisation of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s (TTPS) Strategic Plan.

The ninety-one officers were presented with their letters of promotion at two ceremonies at the Police Training Academy, St. James, on Wednesday.

In addressing the officers, Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, urged them to not lose touch with their junior officers and to remain tactical and operational at all times. He also reminded them that they are now in a critical position to be the catalyst of change within the TTPS.

Commissioner Griffith told the new Inspectors that they must adopt a leadership style which takes ownership of the decisions of their superiors as well as their own and ensure that they carry out the implementation of the Strategic Plan efficiently and effectively for the benefit of all.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ag.) ‘Administration’, and Chairperson of the Promotions Advisory Board, Beverly Lewis, thanked all those persons who were instrumental in the three-month long promotion process. She said with much diplomacy, professionalism and camaraderie, the Board was able to achieve what had seemed to be an insurmountable task of promoting the officers.

DCP (Ag.) Lewis told the officers she hopes that the  grueling promotion process gives them a heightened level of commitment to operationalising the TTPS’ Strategic Plan and bring pride to their rank.

DCP (Ag.) ‘Intelligence and Investigations’, McDonald Jacob, advised the officers to reflect on the areas in which they fell short during the promotion process with the aim of improving their leadership skills.
