A Sudden SSA Shake-up: Ambassador Returns From Washington To Head Agency

By Newsroom

Brigadier General Phillips-Spencer has been appointed to act as head of the Strategic Services Agency, the SSA.

The Office of the Prime Minister announced the replacement of Major Roger Best in a statement last evening, based on a recommendation from the National Security Council.

Major. Best has been sent on administrative leave.

Brigadier General Phillips-Spencer has been tasked with conducting an extensive review and audit of all personnel, equipment and processes within the agency.

Meanwhile, Opposition MP Dr. Roodal Moonilal says government must provide further details on the sudden replacement of SSA head, Major Roger Best.

He also calls for clarification on reports that police seized equipment and files from the SSA buildings.

“It begs the question as to why was the Head of the SSA relieved of his responsibility overnight. Why was the Director of the SSA removed in such a sudden manner, and in what circumstances did the police purportedly seize equipment, files, technology, reports and so on from the SSA buildings?” Moonilal asked.
