The country could soon see a scrapping of all Covid-19 restrictions, as government prepares to meet with health officials in the coming days, to determine the feasibility of such a move.

Speaking at a PNM meeting last night, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley said with 14 days having passed since Carnival with no real spike in cases, he sees no reason why the country could not be “opened completely”.

“And I will be minded to tell the country that I see no reason now not to open the country completely,” Rowley said.

“So within the next few days, I will meet with our health team and we will take decisions commiserate with the circumstances in Trinidad and Tobago and compare it to what is happening elsewhere,” he added.

Officials will compare local trends to those being seen internationally, to come to a decision on the next steps.
