The baby girl who was found abandoned at the San Fernando General Hospital on Monday remains in stable condition at the facility, and is being cared for by doctors and nurses as police continue investigations to locate the newborn’s parents.

The South West Regional Authority, in a statement on Tuesday evening, thanked the public for the outpouring of concern shown for the child.

Meanwhile, police are using a handwritten note as their main clue to find the parents of the newborn baby girl.

The baby, who appeared to be just a few weeks old, was found in a garbage bag accompanied by the note which asked for the State to care for her as the parent could not do so themselves.

The child was found by Emmanuel Pierre, a young man who had been at the hospital for a job interview.
