Accountant charged for larceny of over $300,000

A 34-year-old accountant was granted bail in the sum of $170,000 yesterday, November 16 after he was charged with Larceny.

According to the TTPS RICHARD DEONARINESINGH, of Gasparillo, who was charged with Larceny Servant in the sum of $316.501.78, is expected to appear in court on December 5th, 2022.

The alleged crime happened between December 1, 2017, and September 29 2018.

The TTPS also disclosed that “an accountant at an engineering company collected the sum of $316,501.78, then allegedly failed to remit the money into the company’s bank deposit, or give an explanation for the missing money.”

The missing funds were discovered during an internal audit of the company’s sales. The matter was reported in March 2021 to the Fraud Squad Office, San Fernando. Ag. Cpl. Ramdial conducted the investigation, which resulted in the arrest of a man on November 15 and he was charged on November 16, 2022.

Investigations were spearheaded by Superintendent Ruben, coordinated by ASP Samuel and supervised by Ag Insp Seepersad.
